A2 off Larne to Carnlough road Glenarm, small forest along the Glenarm River. Easy and moderate walking on waymarked trails.  Car  parking.

 
A26  Kells to Parkgate or B59 Ballymena to Doagh Tardree Forest lying over two hills.   Easy to moderate walking, some paths are steep in places. Three car parks

 
A8 Belfast to Larne Road at junction with A36 at Killwaughter Filling Station Ballyboley 7 miles of forest roads.  Easy to moderate
walking on waymarked trails.  Touring caravan site,  reservoir for fly fishing (permit required),  car parking,   and part of Ulster Way.
 
A2 at Ballycastle Ballycastle forest.  Moderate walking.  Waymarked trails with views of Rathlin Island, and cliffs of Fair Head and  North Antrim coast.  Car parking.  Giant’s Causeway nearby. Also 13 mile coastal walk from Portballintrae to Ballintoy 0SD 4 and 5
     
  COUNTY ARMAGH  
From Newry on A1 towards Dublin  B113 towards Forkhill. Slieve Gullion Forest Park just before Drumintee.    Forest track, sometimes muddy mountain path.  Car parking,  Facilities in nearby villages. OSID 29   grid ref J 042 196
     
  COUNTY DOWN  
A2 Warrenpoint and Newry road to Kilkeel Rostrevor, overlooking Carlingford Lough.  Steep and uneven sections, stout footwear recommended. Trails of varying length all starting from the car park

 
A24 Belfast to Clough  B2 Ballynahinch  to Dromore Drumkeeragh Forest, easy to moderate walking.All trails start from the car park. Panoramic views of Mourne Mountains, Dundrum Bay.

 
A2 Newcastle to Kilkeel Donard Forest. At the foot of the Mourne Mountains. The Granite Trail with a challenging start climbing 600 ft.   Uneven rocky tracks with moderate to difficult walking; all trails have steep and uneven sections. Four waymarked trails. Parking is adjacent to the site. Also Bloody Bridge in the same area

A20 to Newtownards Scrabo Country Park and Tower with views over Stranford Lough. Unsurfaced natural paths, steep inclines and descents. Car parking but no refreshments on site.

A26,  A37 or  A54  to Coleraine Coleraine Woods  Woodland and riverside walks.   Picnic sites  Car parking at all sites.   Somerset Wood  and Castleroe Wood are on the A54.

 
A2 Londonderry to Limavady Roe Valley Country Park, well signposted.    Mostly tarmac or surfaced paths, can be  steep in places.   Visitory centre, car park and toilets with cafe and museum as site has connections with the linen industry.
