A96 north from Aberdeen past Inverurie Signposted to Chapel of Garloch, then signposted to Bennachie Centre. Parking, toilets, visitor centre,  Several trails, picnic site. Sculpture trail.

A 90 then from Peterhead on A950 at Mintlaw or A90 from Aberdeen on A952 Mintlaw - Aden Country Park,     Parking (charges),  restaurant, Farming Museum, toilets, picnic areas. Surfaced paths, through woodland and parkland.  Small lake and a dog exercise area (dogs on leads in the park).

  
A90 Ellon to Tarves road then B9005   Haddo is signed from B999 Haddo Country Park - limited dog walking due to Deer Park and bird life on lake and ponds. Parkland and  woodland.  Parking, toilets, picnic benches  Another place  with its own dog exercise area.

A90 8 miles north of Aberdeen Balmedie Country Park.  Ample parking, charges apply toilets, picnic tables.  Sandy beach area with dunes.

  
A944 at Alford Alford - Haughton Country Park.  Car parking charges. Toilets, picnic tables. Woodland walks, riverside and grassland.

A92 Dundee to Abroath Coastal path from Whiting Ness to Auchmithie.   Carlingheugh Bay.   Steep cliffs, keep watch on dogs and children.

A92 Montrose St Cyrus National Nature Reserve. Parking, toilets opposite car park,  small visitor centre.  Waymarked walk  along the sandy beach, and cliffs. Refreshments in St Cyrus or Montrose.

A90  A923 Dundee Camperdown Country Park, and wildlife centre.  Historic House, parking at several sites, toilets,  refreshments.  Golf  course.
Templeton Woods and Clatto Reservoir in same area. Parking, toilets, Woodland Visitor Centre.  Reservoir  with separate parking.

  
A90 north west of Brechin   Ancient hill forts White Caterthun and Brown Caterthun
 Car parking but no facilities.  Toilets in Brechin. Dogs under control on the pathways.
Food at Old Bake House Coffee Shop, Brechin or Glen Esk Hotel, Edzell.

A90 east of Dundee onto B961 Monikie Country Park. Dogs restricted in certain parts. Woodland, grassland and reservoirs.  Snacks and light meals available  Guided walks, watersports.  
     
  PERTHSHIRE  
A93 Quarrymill Woodland Park, Perth.  Waymarked walks from the car park with a longer walk to Scone.  Picnic  sites and viewing platforms

A9 2 miles west of Dunkeld The Hermitage beauty spot.  Red squirrels, River Brann. Picnic tables in the car park Dogs under control please. Trails through the forest.

A82 to Drumnadrochit then A831 to Cannich, follow sign post along single track to

Glen Affric where you can see shimmering lochs and rugged mountains.  Easy to follow path and track partly through pine forest.  Cannich has pubs, shop, hotel, hostel and campsite. OSE 415 grid ref NH 201 234
A82 then A830 from Fort William Glenfinnan where scenes from the Harry Potter films will be fammiliar.  Surfaced track and rougher forest path.  Parking in the village where the Glenfinnnan Monument to Bonnnie Prince Charlie is sited.  Visitor Centre and facilities.

 Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve Dogs on leads.   Enjoy the views from the suspension bridge.  No visitor facilities.  
A9  A836  Lairg Falls of Shin Visitor Centre.  Forest walks, restaurant,  family friendly.

  
A9 from Perth to Aviemore Glenmore Forest Park, Cairngorms National Park.  Well surfaced paths from Glenmore to Ryvoan. Car park at visitor centre.  Cairngorm Reindeer Centre.
