| A379 Exeter, Countess Wear | Riverside Valley Country Park and Exeter Canal. Choice of canal paths and riverside fields (sometimes grazing for bullocks). Parking limited but on either side of the road. Not well signposted but a favourite with cyclists. |

| A38/A380 to Torbay | Another part of Haldon Forest with more walks. Take exit signposted to Mamhead and Starcross on the left, then first right signposted to Ashcombe (not very clear). Free car park on the left but no toilets. Picnic site. Excellent flat walks to the Obelisk, also more challenging walks on the opposite side of the road for longer leg stretches. Wonderful views across the Exe Estuary to Chesil Beach on a clear day and to Dartmoor. Again be aware of the deer if your dog is inclined to chase. |

Deer are present sometimes in the copses and if you have a nervous dog the Royal Marines can be using their grenade range on the Colyton Raleigh side during the week. Many trails to follow, car parking but no facilities. |
